Two years after the 'Stonewall Uprising' there were enough political groups in New York State to have approximately 3,000 marchers in Albany on March 14, 1971. She also talked about how Congressmember Bella Abzug advised the Movement to amend the 1964 Civil Rights Law to include 'sexual orientation' after this March and finally introduced it into Congress in 1974. The Rabbi compared the 40 year struggle to freedom for the former slaves of the Bible to the 40 years that passed since America's first Statewide March for Gay Rights.
